Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) is the oldest public university in Madrid. Founded in 1822, UCM is a prestigious institution that has carried its long-standing tradition to the present day. According to most international world rankings, Complutense University is among the top 200 universities in the world. Seven of the eight Spanish Nobel Prize winners received their education at Complutense University.

Currently the 3rd largest in-person university on the European continent, UCM has two campuses: the Moncloa campus and the Somosaguas campus, in addition to its historic building on Calle San Bernardo in the Malasaña neighborhood in central Madrid. UCM has a highly diverse student body representing 80 nationalities, thanks to agreements with universities abroad and the Erasmus program. 

International students wishing to pursue an undergraduate degree at Universidad Complutense de Madrid must meet the following requirements:

• High school diploma / IB diploma
• Official transcripts
• Language proficiency documents (A Spanish proficiency level of B1 is strongly recommended for undergraduate programs.)
• Statement of purpose
• SAT/ACT scores for certain programs

International students wishing to pursue a graduate degree at Universidad Complutense de Madrid must meet the following requirements:

• University diploma
• Official transcripts
• Language proficiency documents (A Spanish proficiency level of C1 is strongly recommended for Master’s and PhD programs.)
• Statement of purpose
• Letter of recommendation
• CV
• GRE/GMAT scores for certain departments
