Take a closer look at Massey University
Massey University operates across three campuses: Auckland, Wellington, and Manawatū. Massey University was first established at the Turitea campus in Palmerston North, which hosts approximately 9,000 students each year. Located at Turitea are Massey University's main administrative units, along with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Sciences, and Massey Business School. Additionally, New Zealand's only School of Veterinary Science is also located at Turitea. The Auckland Campus in Albany has grown rapidly since 1993, situated in Auckland's North Shore. The College of Sciences and Massey Business School are the two largest colleges on campus, and the College of Sciences is home to the New Zealand Institute for Advanced Study. The Auckland Campus has approximately 7,000 students. The Wellington Campus was created through the merger with Wellington Polytechnic, approved by the New Zealand Government and completed in 1999. Wellington Polytechnic's history dates back to 1886, when the Wellington School of Design was established. It was renamed Wellington Technical School in 1891, and in 1963 it split into Wellington Polytechnic and Wellington High School. The university's departments in arts, design, health, nursing, music, creative media, and communications operate from this campus.
Massey University has a vibrant and active campus life. Each of the university's three campuses has its own student association, and the Federation of Massey University Student Associations serves as a body representing all of them. Each student association organizes activities and provides support to its members by arranging student events, advocating for student issues, managing student facilities, and assisting affiliated student clubs and societies. The Palmerston North branch of the student association also operates Radio Control, a student radio station located on the Turitea Campus. Sport plays a major role at Massey University, which has a total of 6 sports complexes where students can participate in activities across virtually every sport, and the university is home to more than 200 student clubs and societies covering a wide range of interests. Additionally, must-see attractions include the Victoria Esplanade Gardens, the Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and Heritage, and the New Zealand Rugby Museum in Palmerston North; the Sky Tower, Auckland Museum, Mount Eden, and Tiritiri Matangi and Rangitoto Islands in Auckland; and Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand, the ZEALANDIA ecosanctuary, Mount Victoria, and the Wellington Botanic Garden in Wellington.
