The University of Warsaw, known in Polish as Uniwersytet Warszawski, is a public university founded in 1816 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. One of the oldest and largest universities in Poland, the University of Warsaw traces its origins to the Faculty of Law established in 1808 during the Napoleonic era and the Faculty of Medicine founded the following year. The university continued to grow its graduate numbers even through World War I between 1816 and 1918, was forced to suspend operations during World War II, and reopened its doors once the war ended. Since 1945 it has developed steadily, becoming one of the finest universities in Poland and Europe. Associated with Nobel Prize-winning authors such as Henryk Sienkiewicz, Czesław Miłosz, and Olga Tokarczuk; Nobel Peace Prize-winning politicians and scientists such as Menachem Begin and Joseph Rotblat; and Nobel Prize-winning economists such as Leonid Hurwicz, the University of Warsaw today provides higher education to approximately 42,000 students through 25 faculties, more than 30 research centers, and a workforce of over 8,000 staff members.

- Polish Language Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in Polish
- Official transcripts showing the courses taken, credit hours, and grades received throughout undergraduate studies.
- Completion of at least 180 ECTS credits during undergraduate studies

The University of Warsaw operates across 126 buildings within the capital Warsaw, while an extensive renovation program is underway at the university's main campus. Rather than being a campus university in the traditional sense, the University of Warsaw — much like its contemporaries — is a city university spread throughout the entire capital, though the majority of its buildings are concentrated in a few districts. The campus considered the main campus is located in central Warsaw and includes, among other structures, the Pałac Kazimierzowski housing the Rector's Office and the university senate, the Pałac Uruskich housing the Geography and Theology departments, the Old Library, the Szkoła Główna housing the Institute of Archaeology, and the Auditorium Maximum, the university's main lecture hall. The natural sciences campus, where university buildings are concentrated, is located on Banacha and Pasteura streets in Warsaw and houses departments such as chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, computer science, and geology. The Ochota Campus, where interdisciplinary research is conducted — particularly important in fields such as medicine, environmental protection, and industry — and the Służewiec Campus, located in the south of the city and home to the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, are the other areas where university buildings are clustered.
Located in the capital Warsaw, the university is deeply intertwined with the social and cultural offerings of the city and its urban life. Cinemas and theaters, art galleries, cafes and restaurants, museums, shops, most shopping centers, and of course the famous Vistula River are all within walking distance of the campuses. The university's library buildings provide students with ample study space, while sports facilities give students the opportunity to participate in various athletic activities and sports programs. The University of Warsaw operates across 3 campuses: the main campus in the city center, which houses the humanities and social sciences faculties; the Ochota Campus, equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and focused on natural sciences education; and the Służewiec Campus, which is home to the business faculty as well as student dormitories. The university also offers a variety of extracurricular activities organized by student groups and the institution itself, including lectures, workshops, concerts, and film screenings.
