How to get into University of Basel
Prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by the University of Basel must meet the following admission requirements.
- Anadolu High School Diploma
or - Science High School Diploma
and - Coursework completed during the final 3 years of high school, including:
- First Language
- Second Foreign Language
- Mathematics
- Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- Humanities and Social Sciences (Geography, History, or Economics/Law)
- Elective Courses (at least one course from the categories of second foreign language, natural sciences, or humanities and social sciences, or computer science or philosophy)
and
- Having been placed via the YKS exam into the program you wish to study at the University of Basel at a university in Turkey that offers 4-year undergraduate education and is recognized by the University of Basel, and having completed 2 years of study
- The University of Basel may request to see your YKS exam results in accordance with its admission requirements.
- German Language Proficiency Certificate (a German Language Proficiency Certificate obtained through scores from German proficiency exams administered by TestDaF, Telc, or the Goethe-Institut)
- English Language Proficiency Certificate if required by the specific admission conditions of the program applied to (an English Language Proficiency Certificate obtained through scores from exams such as IELTS or TOEFL)

Rather than a campus university, the University of Basel is a city university whose main building is located at Petersplatz. The university's affiliated buildings are spread across various districts of the city of Basel, and the institution has a total of seven faculties: Theology, Law, Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Business and Economics, and Psychology. Transportation between university buildings is possible via Basel's extensive public transit network, by bicycle, or on foot. The Kollegienhaus at Petersplatz serves as the main building, housing lecture halls, seminar rooms, the university's main assembly hall, a cafeteria, and administrative offices. Designed by architect Roland Rohn and opened in 1939, the Kollegienhaus is one of the finest examples of the Neues Bauen movement. Another notable structure is the Biozentrum, a 72-meter-tall building completed in 2021 that houses research facilities, lecture halls, and seminar rooms for the life sciences departments. This building stands as a central element of the Schällemätteli campus, where the university concentrates its life sciences research.
