Hacettepe University is a public university founded on July 8, 1967, in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey. The origins of Hacettepe University trace back to February 2, 1954, when the Department of Child Health was established in the Hacettepe neighborhood of the Altındağ district, then affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Ankara University — and the university takes its name from this very neighborhood.
Since its founding, Hacettepe University has achieved countless milestones across many fields of science and has consistently held a place in the top five in national rankings published by URAP, CWUR, QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and the Shanghai Ranking.
As one of Turkey's largest universities by student population, Hacettepe University currently serves more than 50,000 students across its Sıhhiye and Beytepe campuses, with 16 faculties, 15 institutes, 4 vocational schools of higher education, 2 colleges, 1 conservatory, and 98 research and application centers.
