Istanbul University is a public university located in Istanbul, Turkey, holding the title of Turkey's oldest university, with roots traceable to the Sahn-i Seman Madrasas established by Mehmed II — better known as Fatih Sultan Mehmed — on May 30, 1453, the day after the conquest of Istanbul. Ranked among the top 100 universities in the Asia-Pacific region, Istanbul University is currently a member of prestigious organizations including the Coimbra Group, the European University Association, and the Association of Mediterranean Universities.

Istanbul University provides higher education opportunities to more than 60,000 students across 10 campuses spread throughout Istanbul, with 17 faculties, 14 institutes, 2 schools, 2 vocational schools, and 77 centers.

Istanbul University requires prospective students admitted to departments where the language of instruction includes English, German, or French to complete the corresponding preparatory programs.

Additionally, prospective students who wish to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Istanbul University must meet the following requirements.

For Turkish Students;

• High School Diploma
• Minimum YKS Base Score: 201.68522
• Maximum YKS Base Score: 420.22483

For International Students;

• IUYOS Exam Score

For Preparatory Program Exemption;

• English: TOEFL i-BT, CAE, CPE, or PTE Exam Score
• German: TELC, Goethe-Zertifikat, or TestDAF Exam Score
• French: DELF/DALF or TFI Exam Score
