Sakarya University is a public university founded in 1992 in the province of Sakarya, Turkey.
Having operated under the names Architecture and Engineering Academy from 1970 to 1971, Sakarya State Architecture and Engineering Academy from 1971 to 1982, and Istanbul University’s ITU Sakarya Faculty of Engineering from 1982 to 1992 before being elevated to university status in 1992, Sakarya University rapidly completed its technical and academic infrastructure in the years following its attainment of university status, earning both the ISO-2002 Quality Certificate and the EFQM Excellence Competency Level Quality Certificate.
Today, Sakarya University provides higher education opportunities to approximately 50,000 students through 14 faculties — including the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Political Sciences, Faculty of Technical Education, and Faculty of Medicine — as well as 1 state conservatory, 1 college, 3 vocational schools, and 6 institutes.

Submitting at least one of the exams below with the required score is a prerequisite for application. The score threshold may vary by program.
How to get into Sakarya University
The language of instruction for certain undergraduate programs at Sakarya University is English, German, and Arabic. For English-taught programs, prospective students are first required to take a placement and proficiency exam, and based on their score, they may either proceed directly to undergraduate study or begin a preparatory program. That said, students who have achieved sufficient scores on proficiency exams such as TOEFL iBT, FCE, CAE, CPE, PTE Academic, or ÖSYM-administered exams such as YDS or YÖKDİL may request a preparatory program exemption.
Prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs at Sakarya University must meet the admission requirements listed below.
For Turkish Students:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum YKS Base Score: 199.91527
- Maximum YKS Base Score: 419.25688
For International Students:
- SAT, ACT, Abitur, or Matura Score
or - International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or GCE A-Level Certificate
or - Sakarya University Foreign Student Exam (SÜYÖS) Score
- Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate
For Preparatory Program Exemption:
- English: TOEFL iBT, FCE, CAE, PTE Academic, YDS, or YÖKDİL proficiency exam score
- German: TestDaF, TELC, or Goethe-Zertifikat score
- Arabic: YDS Arabic score
