Founded on April 14, 2001, with 2 faculties, 5 colleges, and 2 institutes, İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi relocated to its current Balçova Campus on July 1, 2001, and began academic operations with 288 students. The second foundation university in the Aegean Region and one of the most preferred universities in Turkey, İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi today operates with 8 faculties, 2 colleges, 3 vocational colleges, and a Graduate Education Institute.

Recognized for institutional accreditation by the Higher Education Quality Council, İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi is among the select higher education institutions to successfully pass evaluations in numerous areas including teaching and learning, research and development, social contribution, leadership, and management systems, with the number of accredited departments reaching 14. İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi currently provides higher education opportunities to more than 10,000 students.

İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi requires prospective students to participate in an English Preparatory Program for departments where the language of instruction is English.

In addition, prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi must meet the following requirements.

For Turkish Students;

• High School Diploma
• Minimum YKS Base Score: 212.96253
• Maximum YKS Base Score: 464.45957
• To Skip Preparatory Class: A minimum score of 84 on the TOEFL exam

For International Students;

• SAT, ACT, Abitur, or Matura Score
• Turkish Proficiency Certificate
