İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi

İstanbul Bilgi University is a foundation university established in Istanbul in 1996. Before its official founding in 1996, the institution operated under the name Istanbul School of International Studies, offering programs in Economics, Business, and International Relations in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth and the London School of Economics. Upon its formal establishment in 1996, it became the second foundation university in Istanbul and the fourth in Turkey.

Having grown continuously since its founding to become one of the best foundation universities in Turkey, it has been recognized with quality and accreditation awards by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, QS Stars, the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), the Turkish Psychologists Association (TPD), the International Family Therapy Association (IFTA), the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Education Programs (MÜDEK), the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Science, Literature, Language, History and Geography Faculty Programs (FEDEK), and ISO.

Between 2010 and 2018, nine faculty members were awarded the title of Emeritus Professor. Today, İstanbul Bilgi University provides higher education opportunities to more than 20,000 students across 3 campuses, through 7 faculties, 4 colleges, 3 vocational schools, 3 institutes, and 20 research and application centers.

The vast majority of undergraduate programs offered at İstanbul Bilgi University are taught in English, and all prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs must first take a two-stage English placement and proficiency exam known as BİLET — the Bilgi English Language Exemption Test. Based on their score on this exam (minimum 60), students may either proceed directly to their undergraduate studies or complete a 2-year preparatory program.

Additionally, students who have achieved a sufficient score on exams such as TOEFL iBT (minimum 75), FCE (minimum B), CAE (minimum C), CPE (minimum C), YDS (minimum 65), or PTE Academic (minimum 67) may apply for a preparatory exemption.

Prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by İstanbul Bilgi University must meet the following requirements.

For Turkish Students;

• High School Diploma
• Minimum YKS Base Score: 202.71473
• Maximum YKS Base Score: 449.2195

For International Students;

• GCE, ACT, SAT, IB, or ABITUR score
• Turkish Language Proficiency Exam score

For Preparatory Exemption;

• A passing score on TOEFL iBT, FCE, CAE, CPE, YDS, YÖKDİL, PTE Academic, or the university's own BİLET exam.
