Yıldız Technical University overview
Yıldız Technical University began its educational life in 1911 under the name “Kondüktör Mekteb-i Âlisi” with the aim of training technicians to undertake tasks such as the construction of railways, bridges, and roads for the Ottoman Empire, and attained university status in 1982. YTÜ has two main campuses in Istanbul's Yıldız and Davutpaşa neighborhoods and provides educational opportunities to more than 26,000 students through 11 faculties, 46 departments, and 2 institutes.
YTÜ students may qualify to study abroad for a portion of their university education by participating in the Farabi, Erasmus, Mevlâna, and FreeMover exchange programs.

How to get into Yıldız Technical University
Yıldız Technical University requires prospective students to participate in an English Preparatory Program for departments where the language of instruction is English.
In addition, prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Yıldız Technical University must meet the following requirements.
For Turkish Students:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum YKS Base Score: 255.9159
- Maximum YKS Base Score: 459.86273
- For Preparatory Program Exemption: A minimum score of 72 on TOEFL
For International Students:
- SAT, ACT, IB, Abitur, or Matura Score
- Turkish Proficiency Certificate
