Sabancı University is a foundation university established in 1994 in Istanbul, Turkey, through the initiative of the Hacı Ömer Sabancı Foundation. Affiliated with the Sabancı Foundation, one of Turkey’s leading family foundations, Sabancı University holds the distinction of being the first higher education institution in Turkey to offer a liberal arts-style education. Under this system, students take a set of core courses during their first academic year and choose their program no earlier than the end of their first year and no later than the end of their second year.

Submitting at least one of the exams below with the required score is a prerequisite for application. The score threshold may vary by program.
How to get into Sabancı University
The language of instruction at Sabancı University is English, and all prospective students wishing to apply to the university’s undergraduate programs are required to take a comprehensive English proficiency exam called the English Language Assessment Exam. Based on their score on this exam, prospective students may either proceed directly to undergraduate study or may be required to complete a one-year preparatory program known as the Foundation Development Year.
That said, students who have achieved sufficient scores on exams such as PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, CAE, CPE, or YDS may request an exemption from the preparatory program.
Prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs at Sabancı University must meet the requirements listed below.
For Turkish Students:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum YKS Base Score: 280.34503
- Maximum YKS Base Score: 501.27981
For International Students:
- SAT, ACT, GCE, Abitur, AP, IB, or Matura Score
- Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate
For Preparatory Program Exemption:
- Must have achieved a passing score on TOEFL iBT, YÖKDİL, PTE, CAE, CPE, or the university’s own ELAE exam.
