Although Galatasaray University officially gained university status in 1992, its roots trace back to the Galata Sarayı Enderun Mektebi from the Ottoman era. Having provided education in the same building since the Ottoman period with the goal of cultivating distinguished scholars for the state, Galatasaray University is the only public university in Turkey where the language of instruction is French.

Today, the university offers education to 3,300 students through 5 faculties and 2 institutes, with its campus situated in the Ortaköy neighborhood of Istanbul, around the historic İbrahim Tevfik Efendi waterside palace on the Bosphorus. Galatasaray University offers Erasmus and Socrates exchange programs as well as a dual degree program with Sorbonne University. Preserving its vision and mission from the Ottoman era to the present day, Galatasaray University has become one of our country's most important educational institutions.

Galatasaray University requires prospective students to participate in a French Preparatory Program.

In addition, prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Galatasaray University must meet the requirements listed below.

For Turkish Students;

• High School Diploma
• Minimum YKS Base Score: 358.94733
• Maximum YKS Base Score: 476.17171
• To Skip the Preparatory Program: A minimum B2 proficiency level in DELF

For International Students;

• Exam scores such as SAT or ABITUR (requirements vary by country)
  or
• A qualifying score on the GSÜYÖS exam
  or
• International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A-Level Diploma
