Dokuz Eylül University

Dokuz Eylül University is a public university founded in 1982 in the city of Izmir, Turkey. One of the first higher education institutions in Turkey to offer instruction organized by program, Dokuz Eylül University takes its name from the date on which Izmir was liberated from enemy occupation.

Having produced more than 200,000 graduates since its founding, Dokuz Eylül University today provides higher education opportunities to more than 60,000 students through 18 faculties—the Buca Faculty of Education, the Maritime Faculty, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Letters, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Tourism, the Necat Hepkon Faculty of Sport Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine—along with the State Conservatory, 3 colleges (the College of Applied Sciences, the School of Foreign Languages, and the Vocational School of Justice), 6 additional vocational schools (the Bergama Vocational School, the Efes Vocational School, the Izmir Vocational School, the Vocational School of Health Services, and the Torbalı Vocational School), and 10 institutes (the Institute of Atatürk's Principles and the History of the Turkish Revolution, the Institute of Religious Sciences Research, the Institute of Educational Sciences, the Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology, the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, the Institute of Fine Arts, the Izmir International Biomedicine and Genome Institute, the Oncology Institute, the Institute of Health Sciences, and the Institute of Social Sciences).
