Dicle University is a public university founded in 1973 in Diyarbakir Province, Turkey. Its roots trace back to the Diyarbakir Faculty of Medicine, established in 1966 as an affiliate of Ankara University's Faculty of Medicine. The institution operated under Ankara University until 1969, and the founding of the Faculty of Science in 1973 completed the establishment of the university — originally named Diyarbakir University before being renamed Dicle University by law in 1982. Dicle University today provides higher education to more than 30,000 students through 17 faculties — including the Ataturk Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Letters, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Communications, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Design, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, and the Ziya Gokalp Faculty of Education — as well as 4 institutes, 3 colleges, 1 state conservatory, and 12 vocational schools.

Application Process

How to get into

Certain undergraduate programs at Dicle University are taught in English, German, or French. Applicants are first required to take a placement and proficiency exam; depending on their score, they may proceed directly to undergraduate study or begin a preparatory program. Students who have already achieved a sufficient score on internationally recognized proficiency exams — such as TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CPE, or CAE for English; TELC, TestDaF, PNDS, or Goethe-Zertifikat for German; or DELF or DALF for French — or on proficiency exams administered by OSYM and YOK such as YDS, E-YDS, and YOKDIL, may request an exemption from the preparatory program.

Students wishing to apply for undergraduate programs offered by Dicle University must meet the following admission requirements.

For Turkish Students:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum YKS Base Score: 197.48641
  • Maximum YKS Base Score: 440.59398

For International Students:

  • SAT, ACT, Abitur, or Matura Score
    or
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or GCE A-Level Certificate
    or
  • International Student Exam Score
  • Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate

For Preparatory Program Exemption:
