Başkent Üniversitesi is a foundation university established in 1994 in Ankara, Turkey's capital — the city from which it takes its name — by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Haberal, with the goal of meeting the demand for higher education institutions and building a modern educational system. As one of Turkey's first foundation universities, Başkent Üniversitesi has consistently ranked among Turkey's top universities in national and international rankings since its founding and has been accredited by numerous prestigious organizations.
Today, across 3 campuses, the university provides higher education opportunities to more than 16,000 students through 11 faculties, 1 state conservatory, 6 vocational schools, 7 institutes, 1 college, and 26 research and application centers.

How to get into Başkent Üniversitesi
Some undergraduate programs at Başkent Üniversitesi are taught in English. In line with this, prospective students are first required to take a placement and proficiency exam, based on which they may either begin undergraduate study directly or enter a preparatory program. Additionally, students who have achieved sufficient scores on TOEFL iBT, CAE, CPE, PTE Academic, or proficiency exams administered by ÖSYM such as YDS or YÖKDİL may apply for a preparatory program exemption.
Prospective students who wish to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Başkent Üniversitesi must meet the following admission requirements.
For Turkish Students:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum YKS Base Score: 198.04851
- Maximum YKS Base Score: 430.06113
For International Students:
- SAT, ACT, Abitur, or Matura score
or - International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or GCE A-Level Certificate
or - Başkent University International Student Exam Score
- Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate
For Preparatory Program Exemption:
- TOEFL iBT, CAE, CPE, PTE Academic, YDS, or YÖKDİL Proficiency Exam Score
