The University of Malta (UM) is a higher education institution in Malta. The university offers students programs across numerous departments at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The university is a member of the European University Association and the European Access Network. It is also part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Utrecht Network, the Santander Network, and the Compostela Group. Alongside these, it works with many international companies and institutions.
The university traces its roots to the Collegium Melitense, founded on November 12, 1592. With this rich history behind it, the university provides its students with an education suited to the demands of the modern era. The university is home to approximately 11,300 students. Among them are around 1,500 international students from 127 different countries and 600 visiting overseas students. Today the university comprises fourteen faculties, eighteen institutes, thirteen centres, and three schools.
Admission to the university is based on your maturity examination (A level) results. Grades are awarded on a seven-point scale: a grade of 1 marks the highest level of achievement, while a grade of 7 indicates the minimum satisfactory performance.

If you want to enroll in an undergraduate program at the University of Malta, you are expected to meet the following criteria:

For some departments you may be asked for a Police Clearance Certificate. You can obtain this certificate from the Criminal Records Office at the Police General Headquarters in Floriana.

The main campus of the University of Malta is in Msida. It covers 250,207 m² and houses most of the university's faculties and institutions. The campus design was inspired by American university campuses. Separate buildings and a library have been constructed for each faculty. One of the most notable buildings on the campus is the Faculty of Architecture building, designed by British architect Peter Richardson.

Student life on the university campuses is quite enjoyable. Malta offers students a variety of accommodation options around and near the UM campuses, suited to different needs and budgets. You are free to choose the accommodation that suits you best. As a UM student you can stay in university dormitories, or in hostels and apartments near the campus.
In the university dormitories you can take a single room, a double room, or a studio apartment. Costs will vary depending on the room type you choose. The dormitories offer laundry services, a TV room, gym, swimming pool, parking, a cafe and restaurant, and postal services.
