Originally founded in 1883 as the Hamidiye School of Commerce, having operated as the Istanbul Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences from 1959 to 1982, and taking its current form with the reorganization of 1982, Marmara University has become one of Turkey’s leading state universities with approximately 140 years of experience in higher education.
