The Goethe-Zertifikat is a series of German language proficiency tests prepared and administered by the Goethe-Institut. The Goethe-Institut is a German cultural association founded in 1951. It also serves as proof of German proficiency in applications to higher education institutions such as universities, technical universities, university colleges and vocational colleges.
