Master's Degree FAQ

In the US, most MSc/MA programs require the GRE (160+ verbal/170 quant is ideal). For an MBA, either the GMAT or the GRE is accepted (650+ is competitive). In Europe, some programs in the Netherlands and Germany require the GRE, but many are now test-optional — a lasting trend since Covid.
Your SOP should run 500–1,000 words: the first paragraph covers your motivation (which research area or career goal), paragraphs two and three your academic and work experience, the fourth why this program or professor, and the fifth your future plans. It should be tailored to the specific program, not generic. Dream Uni offers an SOP review service.
For top-50 universities, aim for a 3.5+/4.0 (roughly 85+/100). Mid-tier programs accept 3.0–3.5 (75–85). A lower GPA can be offset with a strong GRE score, solid work experience, and research. US credential evaluators like WES and ECE convert your transcript to the American scale.
Fresh graduate with 0–2 years of experience: go for an MSc/MA (academic depth). With 3+ years of experience and a career pivot or management track in mind: an MBA (network, case studies). An MBA costs more ($80k–$200k), but the ROI is high for senior leadership roles. An MSc is more research-focused.
Yes — Fulbright, Chevening (UK), DAAD (Germany), Erasmus Mundus, and university-specific assistantships (RA/TA). TA/RA positions cover tuition plus a stipend. Apply 6–12 months before the program deadline.
In the US, a master's takes 1.5–2 years and an MBA 2 years (full-time). In Europe, a master's runs 1–2 years (one intensive year in the UK, two years in the Netherlands and Germany). A PhD takes 5–7 years in the US and 3–4 in Europe. Part-time and online options are also available.
