What is a Transcript?

A transcript is a document that contains and documents the grades of all courses taken by a student during any academic year or semester. In the United States, the transcript has other names: cumulative record file, permanent record, or certificate of record. A transcript documents the grades of courses a student has taken. This document is only one of the documents required for the student to enroll in another school. This document is given to the student by the educational institution where he/she currently studies or graduated. The transcript is proof of your education. It has a detailed record of all the courses you have taken, along with your scores, in the form of grades awarded by the institution you are studying at. Academic Transcript

An academic transcript from a university may also be called an academic record, diploma supplement, learning statement, achievement record or another similar name. Academic transcripts must list all modules or subjects you studied each year, the grades you received for each module and the credit value and level of each module. It must be stamped or signed by your previous institution's registry office and be on official letterhead. If you do not have an academic transcript, you will need to contact your previous institution to request one. A transcript from an institution from which you graduated or will graduate will list all units completed, grades received, and confirmation of exemptions.

When preparing for a study abroad experience as a one or two-term exchange student or to complete a full Bachelor's or Master's degree, you must go through an extensive "paperwork" process. A registration transcript is one of the important documents you must have and ensure that the information is filled out appropriately. Academic transcripts are closely linked to the study contract plan, which is an official document stating the courses you are required to take or have taken during your education, as well as research and educational/training activities.

Why is a Transcript Required?

To attend a university abroad, applicants must provide the admissions committee with several documents to support their previous academic qualifications. These documents are called academic transcripts or transcripts of record. As proof of your completion of schooling, pre-graduation or post-graduation, these documents are mandatory to prove your eligibility for the program you wish to enroll in. Students are required to submit their transcripts when applying to a university abroad to attend the course of their choice. Students must maintain electronic copies of their documents to complete an application. Some universities abroad require their students to send hard copies of their transcripts via couriers such as DHL services. It is recommended that you read the university requirements thoroughly before submitting your documents.

If your university does not use the ECTS system, the transcript must include a description of the credit and grading systems used. If you are submitting the specification online, you can describe the grading scale used at the institution when you studied. The description should make clear which are the highest and lowest marks. Otherwise, there may be problems with your application. Depending on the rules established by each university, your academic records may be completed by yourself or by the International Office of the host university.

When Can a Transcript Be Requested?

Those still pursuing their last year or awaiting results may not be able to access their current transcripts. Students will receive this document after the annual exam results are announced by the board of directors and they complete the relevant courses. This document is normally one of the last documents you will fill out or request. Applicants who plan to apply for higher education while pursuing their final year of study will need further evidence of their studies. They must submit a detailed table of the scores or grades received so far and an interim/provisional transcript available from the educational institution.

Once your transcript is complete, all you have to do is submit it to the International Office along with other required application documents. Once you receive your transcript, double-check that all required fields have been completed, especially the following:

History
Signature of the administrative officer
Institutional stamp

A transcript is a summary of a student's academic performance and progress to date. It lists the courses taken during each academic year and the grades received in each course. This official document will be printed on the university transcript paper, branded and printed with the university crest. A transcript includes the following information:

A list of the modules a student has taken to date, with credits studied and awarded and grades achieved
List of modules (courses) a student is currently taking
Institution where the training program is or will be given
Research thesis title (if any)
Qualification achieved and final result for the study program (if any)
