Undergraduate
Politecnico di Milano offers bachelor's and master's degree programs under the names Laurea (Bachelor) and Laurea Magistrale (Master). The majority of the undergraduate and graduate programs offered to students are taught in Italian, but there are also programs in English.
Prospective students who wish to apply for the undergraduate programs offered by Politecnico di Milano must meet the following requirements.
- A Recognized Secondary School Leaving Certificate
or - International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
or - European Baccalaureate Diploma
or - GCE A-Level or International Advanced Level
and - For Engineering Programs; taking the TOL exam administered by Politecnico di Milano and obtaining a passing score
- For the Civil Engineering Program; to take the TOL exam administered by Politecnico di Milano and get a passing score or to have a sufficient score from at least one of the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT exam alternatives
- For the Architecture Program; taking the ToA exam administered by Politecnico di Milano and getting a passing score
- For Design Programs; taking the ToD exam administered by Politecnico di Milano and obtaining a passing score
Please note that Poltecnico di Milano requires proof of proficiency in the language of instruction for the chosen program. For English-taught programs, a TOEFL or IELTS score is usually required. The specific language requirements can vary by program.

Undergraduate

Design
In order to enter the School of Design’s Laurea programs, it is mandatory to sit an entrance test called TOLD - Test On Line for Design.
- In order to enter the Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) programmes delivered in Italian, it is mandatory to sit the TOLD test in Italian.
- In order to enter the Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) programmes in Interaction Design delivered in English, it is mandatory to sit the TOLD test in English.
Engineering
- To access the Schools of Engineering’s study programmes delivered in Italian (with the exception of the Laurea Magistrale (MSc) programme in Building Engineering-Architecture) it is mandatory to sit an entrance test (called TOL- test On Line. As an alternative to the TOL test, it is possible to take the entrance test TOLC-I in Italian
- For the academic year 2024/2025 only, candidates holding the alternative tests SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT will also be able to access the first phase of early enrolment.
Architecture
- Compulsory admission test (called 'ARCHED test') for the Laurea program in Architectural Design and the single-cycle Laurea Magistrale program in Building Engineering-Architecture at Politecnico di Milano.
