Founded in 1965 in Miami, Florida, Florida International University, or FIU, is a research-focused public university. Florida International University Campus Information
Florida International University has two large campuses, Modesto Maidique and Biscayne Bay, as well as centers located in different parts of the city of Miami.
The main campus, Modesto Maidique (MMC), is located on approximately 1,400 acres on the site of the former Tamiami Airport and is located in downtown Miami. This campus includes the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, Motorola Nanofabrication Research Center, administrative office and buildings belonging to almost all departments at the university, and it is built on an area of approximately 145,000 square meters. In addition, there are student dormitories and FUI Stadium, FIU Arena, FUI Baseball Stadium and fitness centers for student use. Transportation within and between campuses is possible by the shuttle services provided by the school.
The Biscayne Bay campus is built on an area of approximately 800 acres by the ocean and is home to the Marine Sciences, Journalism and Media departments, which are among the most popular departments of the university.
Florida International University Campus Life
Florida International University offers different accommodation opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students with 9 dormitory buildings on both campuses. Students have the opportunity to stay alone or in shared rooms in the dormitories, which are equipped with materials to meet all their needs and are located on secure campuses. Students staying at the Bayview student complex on the Biscayne Bay campus have the opportunity to benefit from the seaside pool and many common areas.
In addition to their academic lives, students can also join student clubs where they can improve themselves culturally. Students have the opportunity to join clubs such as the International Student Club, Model UN, Science Club and Astronomy Club to have a more social academic life.
Students can benefit from more than 30 restaurants and cafés on university campuses as well as many cafés, restaurants and entertainment centers around the campus, thanks to the central location of the campus.
