The University of Manchester located in Manchester, England is a known public research university, with a history and significant contributions to education and research. It was established in 2004 through the merger of Victoria University of Manchester and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). Over the years it has become one of the universities in the United Kingdom. Being a member of the Russell Group, which represents 24 leading public research universities in the UK it has earned recognition for its standards in teaching and research. The University of Manchester Admission Requirements For International Students

Admission Requirements for International Students

Undergraduate

  • A-Levels
    • BBC - A*AA
  • International Baccalaureate
    • Overall scores of 30-39, with scores of 6-7 in relevant subjects at higher level. Please note Mathematical Studies cannot take the place of Mathematics, where Mathematics is specified as a required subject. 
  • European Baccalaureate
    • Scores of 85%-90% overall, with scores of 8.5-9 in relevant subjects
  • French Baccalaureate
    • Overall score of 16 to 20, with 15-17 in required in relevant subjects
  • Abitur
    • Overall score of 1.1 or better, with 13 to 14 in individual subjects taken as abiturprufung examinations
  • Advanced Placement
    • Minimum of 3-4 AP tests with Grades of 5, expected to be taken alongside a relevant high school diploma.

Certificate in English Proficiency (for students from countries whose first language is not English)

  • Certificate in English proficiency received through internationally recognized proficiency tests such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CAE, CPE.

Admission Requirements for International Students

Graduate

Prospective international students who wish to apply for graduate programs offered by the University of Manchester must meet the admission requirements outlined below.

  • Bachelor's Degree Diploma
  • High Grade Point Average
  • Official transcripts of the courses taken by the applicant during college/university education
  • Work experience may be required for certain programs
  • Certificate in English Proficiency (for students from countries whose first language is not English)
    • Certificate in English proficiency received through internationally recognized proficiency tests such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CAE, CPE.
  • GRE/GMAT exam score may be required in accordance with the specific admission requirements of certain programs.

    • QAA-recognised Access to HE Diploma with a minimum of 60 credits overall, with at least 45 at Level 3, 30 credits at distinction and 15 at merit in a relevant subject area to the chosen course. 
  • Pearson BTEC
    • BTEC National Extended Diploma provided it is in a subject relevant to the chosen course. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Extended Diploma (for example D*DD or DDM)
    • BTEC National Diploma provided it is in a subject relevant to the chosen course. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Diploma (for example D*D or DD) plus an additional level 3 qualification such as an A-level.
    • BTEC National Foundation Diploma provided it is in a subject relevant to the chosen course. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Foundation Diploma (for example D*D or DD) plus additional level 3 qualifications such as (an) A-level/A-level and AS-level.
    • BTEC National Extended Certificate provided it is in a subject relevant to the chosen course. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Extended Certificate (for example D* or D) plus additional Level 3 qualifications such as A-levels.
  • International Baccalaureate
    • Overall scores of 30-49, with scores of 6-7 in relevant subjects at higher level. Please note Mathematical Studies cannot take the place of Mathematics, where Mathematics is specified as a required subject. 
  • Scottish Advanced Highers
    • AAA - A1, A1, A
