Undergraduate

A-Levels

  • The minimum requirements are three A-Levels (or equivalent), in three different subjects, or two A-level and two AS subjects, in three different subjects.
  • A-Level Range: A*A*A* - BBB

French Baccalaureate

Baccalauréat/Baccalauréat Genéral

  • Spécialité Mathematics completed in both the première and terminale years will satisfy the Calculus prerequisite.  Mathématiques Expertes is also recommended for applicants to programs in Engineering
  • Spécialité Mathematics (première only) or Math complémentaires will satisfy the Advanced Functions prerequisite.
  • Spécialité SVT (Sciences de la vie et de la Terre) completed in première only, or, in première + terminale will satisfy the Biology prerequisite.
  • Spécialité Physique-Chimie completed in première, or, in première + terminale will satisfy the Physics and/or Chemistry prerequisite for admission to arts/science programs.
  • Applicants to programs in Engineering must present Physique-Chimie in premiere and terminale.

International Baccalaureate

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma, with English HL or SL
  • Prerequisites can be presented at the Standard or Higher Level.
  • The following IB Math courses will satisfy the Calculus and Advanced Functions prerequisites for science and business programs:
    • Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations HL
    • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches SL
    • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL
    • Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations SL will satisfy the Advanced Functions prerequisite (only).

US Students

  • U.S. Senior Year/Grade 12 in an accredited high school with a high grade point average.
  • ACT or SAT Score
  • Prerequisite subjects, including English, should be presented at Senior Year/Grade 12 level or AP/IB.
  • SAT Subject Tests cannot be used to satisfy prerequisites.

Certificate in English Proficiency (for students whose first language is not English)

  • Certificate in English proficiency received through internationally recognized proficiency tests such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CAE, CPE.

Graduate

Prospective international students who wish to apply for graduate programs offered by McGill University must meet the admission requirements outlined below.

  • Bachelor's Degree Diploma
  • High Grade Point Average
  • Official transcripts of the courses taken by the applicant during college/university education
  • Work experience may be required for certain programs
  • Certificate in English Proficiency (for students whose first language is not English)
    • Certificate in English proficiency received through internationally recognized proficiency tests such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CAE, CPE.

Undergraduate

Admission is based on McGill’s calculation of your "Top 6" pre-university (4U, 4M) course average. A minimum of six 4U and/or 4M courses are required for admission.

  • At least four of the six required courses, as well as all prerequisite courses, must be taken at the 4U level.
  • For programs where sciences and/or math are prerequisites, these must have been completed within the last five years.
  • English and French Second Language courses are not accepted as prerequisites.
  • You must have obtained an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) prior to the start of classes.
  • If you are completing the IB Diploma or individual IB Diploma Courses you will normally be considered for admission based on your high school record and a ‘top-6’ average. You may subsequently be granted advanced standing credits based on your final IB results.

International Baccalaureate

  • Complete Diploma, including English:
  • Math Studies is not acceptable for any program with a Math prerequisite

International Baccalaureate secondary school qualifications and course equivalents:

  • English (ENG4U / EAE4U): English (HL / SL)
  • Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U): Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations HL / Analysis and Approaches SL / Analysis and Approaches HL
